About Finance Engage Sustain (FES)
The Finance Engage Sustain (FES), is a youth-led and youth-serving sustainable development organization and Canadian registered charity. As the final generation that can solve climate change, FES empowers young Canadians to create a more inclusive, fair, prosperous, and sustainable future. FES’ intended impact is to see to it that by 2030, Canada is implementing adaptation and mitigation strategies compatible with a climate-resilient future, through the influence and action of young leaders. To do so, FES deploys three programs:
The Youth Harbour. A youth-for-youth climate support system that provides financial and technical support for youth-led organizations and youth organizers. Mainly, FES pools philanthropic funds, redistributes funds to youth, and provides fiscal sponsorship and administrative support. In addition, FES offers various other support services to youth leaders such as branding support, co-working spaces, and coaching.
Now for Net-Zero. An educational program that provides youth and educators with the necessary tools, connections, and resources to implement net-zero-related activities in their local communities.
Position And Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Community Climate Centres
Partnerships.
Maintain and nurture relationships with existing partners, ensuring regular communication and alignment on shared goals.
Identify and cultivate potential new partnerships that could enhance the capacity and impact of the Community Climate Centres.
Track partnership agreements, key commitments, and shared outcomes to maintain clarity and accountability.
Participant Management.
Oversee the Climate ShareSpace initiative, acting as the primary point of contact for participants.
Maintain a clear onboarding process for new participants, ensuring they understand the purpose, expectations, and benefits of the ShareSpace.
Coordinate special events to foster learning, collaboration, and resource sharing among participants.
Track participation, collect feedback, and recommend improvements to enhance the experience and value of the ShareSpace.
General Coordination.
Assist with streamlining and improving programmatic resources and systems.
Amplify Stream
Program Strategy and Development.
Collaborate with the Executive Director to design and develop the Amplify Stream program, aligning with organizational goals and establishing clear timelines and objectives in line with the strategic priorities.
Conduct environmental scans and research to inform program design and keep it responsive to sector trends and youth leadership needs.
Partnerships.
With Creative Director and Partnerships Manager to establish new partnerships and maintain existing partnerships for the program.
Program Maintenance and Coordination.
Oversee the day-to-day management of the Amplify Stream, including coordinating partner communications, responding to participant inquiries, and ensuring program milestones are met.
Maintain organized records of program activities, outputs, and outcomes to support reporting and storytelling efforts.
FES Annual Report
Coordination.
Develop and manage the timeline, work plan, and budget for the creation of the FES Annual Report.
Coordinate content collection from team members, partners, and grantees, ensuring clear deadlines and expectations.
Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure the report effectively communicates impact, stories, and financial accountability.
Work with the Creative Director to ensure the report is visually engaging and aligned with FES’s brand identity.
Mentorship and Alumni
Program Development.
Support the development of an alumni and mentorship strategy that nurtures long-term relationships with past grantees and fosters intergenerational knowledge sharing.
Conduct outreach to alumni to understand their needs and interest in ongoing engagement, and work with the Partnerships Manager to identify potential mentors and partners who could support the mentorship program.
Program Management and Coordination.
Oversee day-to-day coordination of the mentorship and alumni initiatives, including organizing events, facilitating connections, and tracking participation and feedback.
Communication and Visibility
Social Media.
Maintain effective communication with the partnerships and development manager to resolve issues promptly. Support in creating content for newsletters, social media, and other platforms to highlight granting news and program updates and managing a special media calendar for The Youth Harbour communications.
Resource Development.
Conduct research to inform and develop relevant material for grantees.
Create guides, toolkits, and research documents to support grantee success.
Work closely with The Youth Harbour team to develop resources for youth organizers, including but not limited to: HR policies, finance templates, legal frameworks, communications support, etc.
Develop material to explain the activities of the Youth Harbour and the opportunities available to youth, such as one-pagers, developing slide decks and information sessions, website and social media content, etc.
Be responsive to the resource needs of grantees, addressing their requirements in a timely and effective manner.
Impact Assessment and Storytelling.
Assist the Executive Director and Program Manager in developing clear, visually engaging, and compelling materials for fundraising and reporting purposes.
Work closely with grantees and program participants to gather testimonials, photos, and stories that illustrate program impact.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or in support of team needs.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications*:
A post-secondary graduate.
Between the ages of 18 to 30 at the start of the job placement.
Experience (2-3 years) with program coordination and support.
Exceptional skills in leadership, time management, and partnership relations.
Other Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline, including but not limited to education, environmental sciences, engineering, and communications. Upper-year undergraduate and master’s students seeking a full-time position are also eligible.
Experience working with Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour communities and stakeholders.
Interest in the funding and granting sector of Canada, and/or the Youth Climate sector.
1-2 years experience in an administrative role with project management (this can be satisfied through work, internship/co-op, volunteer, and extracurricular activities).
Demonstrated interest in relevant domains (ie. sustainability, education, youth engagement and action) is considered an asset.
Proficient with using word processing, database and spreadsheet software (most notably Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs and Excel).
Experience working with Slack and Monday.com, highly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Eager to be in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high learning curve.
A self-starter able to take initiative on responsibilities with minimal supervision; proven ability to work independently.
Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrating a positive attitude to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues in a virtual environment.
Ability to speak, write, and communicate in French is a strong asset.
